Man gets 24 months in jail for laptop theft

A 43-year-old man was on Thursday sentenced to 24 months in jail after admitting to stealing a laptop that he claimed he pawned to give his children money.

Georgetown Magistrate Faith McGusty sentenced Julian McRae after he pleaded guilty to a charge that on January 4, at Lamaha Springs, he stole an $80,000 ASUS laptop, which belonged to Tenesha Bristol.

According to McRae, after he recently underwent surgery he received a call from his two children, who requested money. He stated that he saw the laptop and decided to pawn it for $10,000 and gave his children $5,000.
