Police hold three after East Coast car chase

Following a high speed chase on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) yesterday around noon, police nabbed three persons and they are being questioned.

The men identified as Dwayne Griffith, 19, and Roderick Thomas, 26, both of William Street, Kitty and Trevin Smith, 24, of Barr Street, Albouystown are being questioned at the Sparendaam Police Station, ECD. A police source told Stabroek News that Smith and Thomas are security guards attached to a night club.

Stabroek News gathered that the driver was motoring in a suspicious manner in a tinted-windscreen, white car and was cautioned by the police to stop but sped away. Police sources told this publication that after the men sped off through a street in Beterverwagting that police chased behind them. The search came to an end in Industry, ECD on the public road. The driver of the motor car,  PTT 4118 lost control causing the vehicle to flip over several times before coming to a halt.

The police source said they are searching for a fourth person.
