Unattended candle seen behind Mocha Arcadia apartment blaze

A fire on Tuesday evening gutted a Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara (EBD) apartment building leaving four persons homeless and millions in losses.

The recently constructed house is owned by Sappha Lord. The top flat was occupied by Daniella Headley while a couple, Kenica Nichols and Quincy Boston lived in a section of the bottom flat. The other tenant was not at home when the fire started.

While an investigation has been launched by the Guyana Fire Service, information revealed that the fire was caused by an unattended candle.

Lord estimated her losses to be over $10M.
