Ed Ahmad’s counsel rapped over copies of memo for judge

]Three days before sentencing, Ed Ahmad’s lawyer was criticized by the judge in the case for not complying with rules for hard copies of the sentencing memorandum to be provided to the court.

Ed Ahmad

“To date, contrary to my rules, no hard courtesy copy has been forwarded to chambers, despite repeated reminders from my courtroom deputy/case manager to defense counsel to provide one. Moreover, again contrary to my rules in criminal cases, defense counsel never provided chambers with a hard courtesy copy of defendant’s March 4, 2016 letter to probation concerning objections to the presentence report nor was a response ever made to the objections raised by the government. Counsel will deliver to chambers FORTHWITH hard copies of said documents and, in no event, later than 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017. SO ORDERED by Chief Judge Dora Lizette Irizarry on 4/18/2017”, the order stated.

Ahmad is to be sentenced tomorrow.
