Thomas United were crowned the Easter Classic Masters champions after edging Wales FC 2-1 Monday at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
Floyd `Running Man’ Cadogan bagged a double on either side of the halftime interval for the eventual champs. On target for Wales FC was Jermaine DeHarte.
Thomas United won $75,000 compliments of the Guyana Beverage Incorporated and the Bounty Farm sponsored championship trophy while Wales FC earned $25,000 sponsored by Star Party Rentals and the DeSinco Trading trophy.
In the semi-finals, Thomas United downed Plaisance 2-0 led by a brace from Cadogan while Wales dismissed Beacons FC 4-2. Gerald Whittington netted a brace while DeHarte and Royston McLean netted once.
On target for Plaisance were Andre Trotz and Wayne Forde. In the individual section, Sean O’Neil of Thomas United was the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). Another major sponsor of the event was Hamson General Store.
