Lima policewoman found dead at workplace with gunshot wound

A police constable was found dead yesterday after she allegedly shot herself in the throat in her workplace’s toilet.

According to a police press release, Shendal George, 29, of Lima, Essequibo Coast, was found in the Caricom Rice Mill’s toilet around 7:45 with a gunshot wound to her throat.

The statement added that George, who was stationed at the main gate of the Rice Mill in Anna Regina, had left her post and did not return.

Upon enquiries her motionless body was found in the bathroom along with the firearm with five live rounds and a spent shell next to her.

She was then rushed to the Suddie Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival and her body was then transported to the Hospital’s Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
