Amelia’s Ward man dies after being hit by car

An Amelia’s Ward man died last evening after he was struck by a car on the Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden.

According to police, around 6.45 last evening, Michael Simon, 59, walked suddenly into the path of the vehicle, PVV 9182, which was proceeding east along the roadway, driven by 35-year-old Clint Henry, also said to be a resident of Amelia’s Ward.

Simon was said to be about 10 feet away from the vehicle when he stepped in front of it, and the driver reportedly made attempts to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.

It was stated that when Simon was picked up from the road and taken to the Linden Hospital, he had been in an unconscious state. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the institution.

Henry is said to be in police custody.
