Police in Berbice have sought legal advice after investigating a complaint of sexual assault that was made by a teen against a political activist in the county.
Commander of ‘B’ Division Ian Amsterdam told Stabroek News that the case file was completed and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice on the way forward.
Stabroek News was told that the political activist turned himself over to police after a report was made by the teen, who accused him of sexually assaulting her.
Amsterdam said that the man turned himself over for questioning and has since been released, pending the advice on possible charges.
