Police acting on information went to the Bartica Stelling about 8.30 yesterday morning and arrested Sidmond Douglas, 42, of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo after he was allegedly found in possession of 1.007 kilograms of cannabis.
Meanwhile Derwin Grant, 35, a miner of lot 44 Pike Street, Kitty was on Wednesday about 11:40hrs arrested in the Mazaruni River by ranks on a river patrol, with 902 grams of cannabis in speaker boxes, a release from the police said yesterday.
Both Grant and Douglas were charged yesterday with Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking. They appeared before Magistrate Delon Bess at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison until Wednesday June 14, 2017 for trial.
