Baishanlin owes GFC $80M

Baishanlin still owes the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) some $80 million, according to Commissioner of Forests James Singh, who also says that claims about the company illegally logging at one of the concessions it previously owned are false.

Duty-free provisions for ExxonMobil were same as for CGX

Guyana’s Petroleum Agreement with ExxonMobil grants the oil giant a multitude of tax concessions including the right to import duty-free, in excess of 300 pieces of “equipment and supplies required for Petroleum Operations”, these same concessions had been given the Canadian oil explorer, CGX under the updated agreement signed in 2013.

Finance Ministry to get $228M annex

The Ministry of Finance is set to construct a new multimillion-dollar annex at the site of the former sports club of the Guyana National Cooperative Bank (GNCB), on Winter Place and Croal Street in Georgetown, according to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Kent clinch semi-final spot after rain-affected win – Group B

That Ayanganna apology

It is still not too late for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to tender a dignified apology to those media operatives (and perhaps to the media fraternity as a whole) upon whom it visited some unacceptable discourtesies on Thursday January 25th after they had turned up at Ayanganna to cover President Granger’s address to the annual Army Officers’ Conference.
