Mason shot at Mackenzie bar

A mason was shot during the wee hours of yesterday by a licensed firearm owner with whom he had a confrontation at a bar in Mackenzie, Linden.

George Daniels, 33, of Section ‘O’ Industrial Area, Mackenzie, Linden was shot once to his right hand. The bullet entered and exited.

Reports are that the incident occurred around 1.20 am yesterday at the Tropical Refreshment bar owned by the suspect, a resident of Silvertown, Wismar, Linden. He has since been arrested and his firearm lodged.

Stabroek News understands that investigations revealed that George was at the bar imbibing when he began to behave disorderly and threw down several chairs in the bar.

Shortly after, the businessman arrived and they had a confrontation during which the businessman allegedly whipped out his firearm and discharged several rounds, one of which struck George in his hand.

George journeyed to the Linden Hospital where he informed the staff and police about what had taken place and was admitted as a patient.

However, reports are that George subsequently discharged himself and returned to the bar where he behaved disorderly again and was also taken into custody.

The duo is assisting the police with investigations.
