The Golden Jaguars Under-20 football team commenced their preparation for the upcoming CONCACAF boys championships on a positive note, defeating the Guyana Police Force [GPF] 2-0 Tuesday at the Eve Leary ground.

Nippy winger Nicolas McArthur opened the scoring in the 25th minute, uncorking a left foot strike into the back of the net, from inside the centre of the box.

Stephon Reynolds then sealed in the victory in the 75th minute, directing his well-placed header past the opposing custodian, following a left side cross into the penalty area.

Wayne Dover, Head-coach of the team during a post-match comment said, “The performance was not 100 percent as expected. We all know that we started late and it’s a group of players where some have been playing for the senior team and some have not played at the age group level. Putting it together will always be difficult to build the cohesion in the short succession.”

He added, “However, some of the things we worked on we did see in the game and we saw where possession has become something that we have concentrate on more in maintaining.”
