The Spotted Sandpiper (Actitis macularius) is a small shorebird that breeds across most of Canada and the United States. It migrates to the southern United States and South America during winter

Adults have short yellowish legs and an orange bill with a dark tip. The body is brown on top and white underneath with black spots.

The Spotted Sandpiper forages on ground or water, picking up food by sight. It may also catch insects in flight and also eats crustaceans and other invertebrates.
