MYO edges out GNIC in 40-over tournament

Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) recorded a win by just two wickets over Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) recently in the Georgetown Cricket Association/ New Building Society 40-over second division tournament.

Under glorious sunshine and on a flat track, GNIC took first strike and posted 168 in 38 overs at MYO with Ryan Shun top scoring with 45. Shun was supported by David Dick with 21 runs.

Richard Latiff was key with the ball, taking 4-41 while Timor Mohammed collected 3-28.

MYO in reply raced to 172 in 35 overs but lost eight wickets along the way.

Khemraj Ramdeen and Shafiek Ishmael were integral to the chase, stroking 38 and 41 respectively. However, 17 year old GNIC off spinner, Trevon Jones looked to bring his side a come- from-behind win, taking 4-25 in six overs with Jermaine Grovsnor chipping in with 2-31.
