Contrasting wins for Net-Rockers, Winners Connection

Net-Rockers and Winners Connection recorded contrasting wins when the Upper Demerara Football Association [UDFA] ‘GT-Beer’ Championships continued  Friday at the Mackenzie Sports Club [MSC] ground, Linden.

Net-Rockers dismantled Blueberry Hill 5-1 spearheaded by doubles from Hussain Cumberbatch and Shane Luckie. The fixture was effectively reduced to a no-contest as Net-Rockers rattled off four unanswered goals.

Cumberbatch commenced the rout with the opening brace in the second and 21st minute. Luckie then made it 3-0 compliments of a 37th minute strike before Denzil Pryce got into the scoring act in the 40th minute.

Upon the commencement of the second half, Blueberry Hill recorded a consolation goal in the 54th minute when Royston Fraser netted.

However, Luckie completed the scoreline and his personal haul with a 76th minute effort.

Meanwhile, Winners Connection squeaked past Topp XX 2-1. Arnold David and Carlos Grant scored in the 27th and 50th minute respectively.

For the loser, Newil Murphy found the back of the net in the 39th minute. The event continues on Boxing Day with another round of matches. 

In the opening contest, Eagles will face-off with Hi-Stars from 19:00hrs, while the feature affair will pit defending champion Botofago against Blueberry Hill at 21:00hrs.
