A Queenstown man was yesterday placed on six weeks community service after pleading guilty to stealing a rearview mirror cap.

The charge states that Ricardo De France on December 28th, 2017 at Savage Street, stole one motor vehicle rearview mirror cap, valued $85,000.

The prosecutor’s facts stated that the complainant parked his car on Savage Street and went to his office. When he returned to the car he discovered the item was missing. He reported the matter to the Brickdam Police Station after he received information from persons around.

De France stated that there is no good reason he can come up with for stealing things. He apologized for his action and further said that at that point he was hungry.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan placed him on 6 weeks community service.
