Stanleytown man accused of burglary granted bail

A labourer, who was reportedly found with items he was accused of stealing from a house, was granted bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Alfred Bamfield of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and pleaded not guilty to the break and enter charge.

It is alleged that he broke and entered the house of Ariana Cody between December 13th, 2018 and December 14th, 2018 and stole a television valued $60,000, a DVD player valued $7,500, a set of cables valued $5000 and a gas cylinder valued $14,000, all to a total value of $86,500.

The police prosecutor told the court that a report was made to the police, a search was conducted and the articles were found on Bamfield. The articles were taken to the police station and were identified by Cody.

Bamfield was granted $75,000 bail and ordered to report to the Wales Police Station every Friday. The matter was adjourned to January 10th, 2019 at the Wales Magistrates Court.
