Rose Hall Town Pepsi defeated Kildonan by 196 runs in the opening round of the Berbice Cricket Board Shimron Hetmyer Intermediate knockout tournament Sunday at the Area H ground.

In the  Zone C encounter Rose Hall Town won the toss and elected to bat first, piling on 226-4 in the 32 overs innings reduced due to rain while Kildonan were bowled out for a paltry 34 in 15.4 overs.

Rose Hall Town were indebted to off-spinning all-rounder, Kevin Sinclair, who picked up a career best 9-13 in 7.1 overs. No Kildonan batsman managed to reach double figures.

The national under-19 player struck with the third delivery of the second over to remove C. Mankarran who failed to score. Sinclair added O. Emanuel and E. McKenzie to his tally in his second over that triggered the collapse.

The 20-year-old, second-division captain found his groove with three wickets in one over, trapping Collin Bynoe and G. Drepaul leg before wicket and then  uprooting the stumps of top scorer, J. Holder who made seven.

Earlier, Sinclair was dismissed off the first delivery of the match by  a bouncer from B. McDonald which he fended off into the hands of short leg.

Junior Sinclair and Jonathan Rampersaud then shared a 105-run partnership with Rampersaud stroking three boundaries.

Sinclair  made 62, consisting of seven boundaries before he was bowled by Drepaul. The foundation was set for Kevlon Anderson (34) and Shawn Pereira (20 not out) to come in and play their natural game.
