United Minibus Union was in no way associated with protest outside magistrate’s court

Dear Editor,

I read an article on page 25 of the Stabroek News of Tuesday, February 12 2019, where it was stated by some protesting minibus operators outside of the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court that `They don’t believe that their Union is representing them’.

Firstly,I would like to make it pellucid that the United Minibus Union (UMU) was in no way associated with that activity.  Secondly those operators are not members of the UMU and that any person or persons among them who at one time may have been a member,it does not give them the right to break the law. The UMU will never be a party to lawlessness, indiscipline and crass disrespect for the Rule of Law,by any of its members or others. Magistrate Clive Nurse is only doing his job. There should be nothing to fear once they do the right thing.

Yours faithfully,

Eon Andrews

President
