Charlestown Secondary whips Tutorial High in Milo football

Charlestown Secondary downed Tutorial High 2-0 when the 7th edition of the Milo Secondary School Football Championship, resumed yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

 Raymond Bandhu opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Tariq Pryce grabbed the second conversion, as he found the back of the net in the 56th minute. Meanwhile, Golden Grove and Uitvlugt battled to a scoreless draw, while Friendship and St John’s College played to an identical result.

 The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of group fixtures.

 In the opening matchup, Vergenoegen Secondary takes aim at Tucville from 12:00hrs, while Christianburg/Wismar lock horns with Ann’s Grove at 13:45hrs.

 The final match will pit St. Cuthbert’s Mission against Cummings Lodge Secondary from 15:30hrs.

 The tourney which is slated to conclude on April 14th, features 24 teams divided into six groups of four.

 Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each pool, alongside the best four third place teams, advance to the elimination round.

 Winner of the competition receives $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy. Similarly, the second, third and fourth-placed sides pocket $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school initiative and a trophy.
