Optique Vision Care opens MovieTowne branch

Optique Vision Care on Thursday evening opened its fifth branch, located in the MovieTowne Mall at Turkeyen, which boasts a fully computerised office that will be operated with the use of an electronic health records system.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Optique’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dhani Narine said the new location promises cutting-edge technology, a VIP experience for those who wish to indulge and outstanding customer service, as part of the company’s ongoing mission to transform the optical industry in the country.

Optique Vision Care opened its first office at Mahaica six years ago. This was followed by the commissioning of three other offices at Grove on the East Bank of Demerara, at Giftland Mall at Liliendaal and at East Street, Georgetown.

Narine said the company has moved towards a fully computerised office with the launch of the electronic health records and practice management systems at the new location.

The electronic health record system, he explain-ed, is a critical component of modern patient care and record keeping and will be introduced at the other branches within the next two months. He said with this system in place, patients can expect a higher level of efficiency with the delivery of patient care.

The new services that will be offered at Optique Vision Care include screening for Diabetic Retinopathy— the most common complication of Diabetes and the leading cause of blindness among the working-age group— as well as laser treatment for the condition and Glaucoma. According to Narine, it is the first such service to be offered within the country’s private sector.

The opening of the new office will also create employment for persons, with special emphasis being placed by the company in the investment of training of optometry interns from the University of Guyana (UG).

“As a company, we continue to provide development and employment opportunities and currently employ a total of 42 team members, which includes two consultant ophthalmologists, nine optometrists, four optometry interns, 12 optical dispensers and 15 administrative and seaport staff,” Narine noted.

In addition, he said that in support of the emerging Oil and Gas sector, Optique Vision Care will also be issuing prescription and non-prescription safety glass with the addition of its new portfolio.

“All our safety products comply with international standards. Further, to ensure that we are adequately prepared, we are currently conducting a gap analysis to be the ISO 9001:2015 certified and hope to achieve this certification by the end of the fourth quarter of 2019,” Narine added.

The new office features products from luxury brands such as Cartier, Bvlgari and Gucci.
