Three men are presently in police custody, while two others managed to escape, after the police intercepted a car on the Ruby Access Road, East Bank Essequibo on Sunday evening and found an unlicensed pistol and ammunition among a quantity of suspicious items.
The police stated in a press release that acting on information, ranks of ‘D’ Division intercepted a motor car around 7:45 pm on Sunday.
At the time, five persons were in the car. Three were arrested while the other two escaped in nearby bushes, the police said.
A search conducted in the vehicle revealed a black mask, a toque, two hoodies, a pair of gloves and an unlicensed pistol with three live ammunition.
Efforts are being made to apprehend the two escaped suspects.
