Police still trying to determine what happened to cop found unconscious

The police are working on enhancing footage obtain-ed in order to determine what caused Police Constable Winston Cooper to sustain serious head wounds on Mandela Avenue.

A police source yesterday informed Stabroek News that investigators have reviewed the footage but the images were blurry.

As a result, the source said extracts were taken and sent to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for enhancement.

Police Constable # 24045 Cooper, who is stationed at the Presidential Guard and resides at Lot 761 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was discovered in an unconscious state on Mandela Avenue early Monday morning.

The police in a brief statement had said that Cooper was discovered lying in an unconscious condition around 5.30am with injuries to his head.

He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains hospitalised.

Up to yesterday afternoon, Stabroek News was told that Cooper had not regained consciousness.
