Presidential Guard Winston Cooper, 32, who was found in an unconscious state on Mandela Avenue with injuries to his head earlier this month, remains hospitalised and has shown no signs of improvement.

Police Public Relations Officer Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday told Stabroek News that Cooper is still hospitalised and has not yet regained consciousness.

Cooper, of Lot 761 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, has been hospitalised since July 1st.

The police, in a brief statement, had said that Cooper, a former Guyana Defence Force officer, was discovered lying in an unconscious condition around 5.30am with injuries to his head. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains hospitalised.

A police source told Stabroek News told that investigators are still trying to determine what caused Cooper to sustain serious head wounds and towards this end they have been working to enhance surveillance footage gathered from around the area.
