A 48-month sentence was on Wednesday handed to a man, who was one of the two persons charged with robbing the home of People’s Progressive Party (PPP) member Clement Rohee of over $3.5 million in jewellery and cash.

Delon Wills, of Lot 94 Belmont Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, who was on trial at the Providence Magistrate’s Court, was jailed in absentia by Magistrate Sunil Scarce as he failed to show up for his trial.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Wills, who was found guilty, was charged alongside Colette Parks, of South Ruimveldt. She too was found guilty and her sentencing has been deferred until August 2nd.

The charges against the duo stated that on November 9th, 2016, at Ixora Avenue, they used a gun to rob Anjanie and Anika Lane of a US$6,000 Rolex wristwatch, and two Movado wristwatches, valued US$4,000 and US$3,000, which were the property of Rohee.

It is also alleged that they stole a $1,500,000 gold chain, a $60,000 gold chain with a pendant, a pair of $60,000 gold earrings, $60,000 gold brooches, US$100 and TT$200, which were the property of Chamalee Rohee.
