A month after denying breaking and entering a shop and stealing over $100,000 in articles, a driver yesterday confessed to the crime and was sentenced to four months in prison.

Latchman Sukhan had been charged alongside Compton Fernandes with breaking and entering the shop of Shanelle Prince and stealing two gas bottles, valued $17,000, and a Samsung music set, valued at $96,000, between May 20th and May 21st, 2019, at Albouystown.

It was previously reported that on the day in question, a relative of Prince was passing in the vicinity of her shop and he saw the shop open. After entering the shop, he allegedly discovered the two men and quickly raised an alarm.

While Fernandes pleaded guilty during his second court appearance before Magistrate Faith McGusty, resulting in a 12-month sentence, Sukhan did not.

Sukhan’s matter was later transferred to the courtroom of Magistrate Annette Singh, before whom he appeared yesterday. He changed his plea to guilty and was subsequently sentenced to four months behind bars.
