A year after being charged with stealing millions from the L. Seepersaud Maraj and Sons jewellery store, Trayon Parks was yesterday remanded to prison for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.

It is alleged that Parks, on July 1st at Water Street, Bagotstown, attempted to murder Cresheia Nero.

The 32-year-old accused, of 107 Old Road, Eccles, was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

An application for bail was later made by attorney Adrian Thompson, who represented the accused. According to the attorney, his client was attacked by the complainant, who shared a relationship with Parks, which resulted in a scuffle between the two. He added that Parks also sustained injuries and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

There was no objection to bail by police prosecutor Neville Jeffers. However, he requested that conditions be applied.

Prior to a decision being made as it relates to bail being granted, Nero told the court that she was still being victimised by the accused. She said that the altercation with Parks was not a fight and that he attacked her first, which caused her to throw a window pane at him, bursting his lip.

The Chief Magistrate then requested to be shown the medical report by the prosecutor.

Subsequent to viewing the report, the magistrate said that she was not inclined to grant the accused bail.

The vendor was then remanded to prison and he is set to make his next court appearance on August 5th, when statements are expected to be presented.

In July last year, Parks was among two other vendors charged with breaking and entering the L. Seepersaud Maraj and Sons store, between July 2nd and July 3rd, 2018, and stealing a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery, valued at $20 million and $2 million in cash.

That matter is currently ongoing before Magistrate Faith McGusty.
