Trinidad: Baby falls from 4 story apartment building

(Trinidad Guardian) An 18-month-old boy was Tues­day night list­ed in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal af­ter he fell from an apart­ment lo­cat­ed on the fourth floor of a Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (HDC) build­ing.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred some­time af­ter 9 am at Irv­ing Lane Apart­ments, East Dry Riv­er, Port -of-Spain.

 
Ac­cord­ing to the re­ports, the tod­dler fell from the fire es­cape of his par­ent’s apart­ment.

He was sub­se­quent­ly tak­en to the hos­pi­tal by rel­a­tives.

In a me­dia state­ment is­sued yes­ter­day, the HDC said it was await­ing a com­pre­hen­sive sta­tus re­port on the child’s health.

Of­fi­cers from the HDC’s So­cial and Com­mu­ni­ty Ser­vices De­part­ment have been as­signed to pro­vide psy­cho-so­cial sup­port to the fam­i­ly.

Health and Safe­ty of­fi­cers have al­so been di­rect­ed to vis­it the area to con­duct an as­sess­ment.

Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed the home but rel­a­tives were not there at the time to re­spond.
