A man was remanded to prison yesterday on a charge that he damaged his ex-partner’s window panes despite being told to stay away from her home.

Mark Sampson, 32, appeared in the city courtroom of Senior Magistrate Leron Daly and he denied a damage to property charge.

The charge states that on July 27th, at Block ‘E’, South Sophia, Georgetown, Sampson damaged two louvre window panes, worth $14,000, which was the property of his former partner.

Sampson, who was previously charged, told the court that he has been trying his best to stay away from the woman since their separation. However, he charged that she is constantly contacting him for various reasons other than to pay child support.

Police Prosecutor Richard Harris came to the defence of the woman and asked how it was possible that Sampson was “trying his best to stay away” but was moving from his home in Werk-en-Rust to go all the way to Sophia, especially after he was warned several times to stay away from the woman.

After listening to the prosecutor, the magistrate remanded Sampson and adjourned the matter until July 31st.
