A man who is accused of operating a brothel at a shop in Region Seven was granted bail yesterday after he was charged with the offence at a city court.

Seon Dawson of Lot 94 First Avenue, Bartica, denied the charge which was read by Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Five.

The charge stated that between the 21st and the 28th of June, at Red Man Shop, Mazaruni, Dawson operated a brothel at the said location.

With no objections to bail by Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, Dawson was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 and was told to make his next court appearance on August 5th, when the matter will be called before the Chief Magistrate.

According to reports, persons from the Ministry of Social Protection and ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department went to the said location and carried out an investigation, during which they found a number of prostitutes housed at the location.
