Probe into Linden/Highway double fatality ongoing

Investigations are still ongoing into the accident which left two persons dead and two others hospitalised.

Royston Stewart, 44, of Sandville, Kuru Kururu and Faye Williams, 43, of Ideal Sandpit Area, Waiakahra, Linden/Soesdyke Highway, died as a result of the accident which occurred on July 13 on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.

According to Traffic Chief, Linden Isles, the police are still conducting investigations into the accident. Isles told Stabroek News that upon completion of the investigation, the police will seek legal advice on the matter in order to determine their next course of action.

The accident which occurred around 7:40 pm, also left 16-year-old Alliyah Munroe and 31-year-old Randy Stoby, injured and hospitalised.

Initial investigations revealed that motor vehicle PVV 535 was proceeding west along the southern side of the road and in the process of overtaking another vehicle, it collided with motor car HC 2554 which was proceeding in the opposite direction and being driven by Stewart. Stewart along with his passengers and the driver of PVV 535 all sustained injuries and were picked up in a conscious state and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

Stoby had previously told Stabroek News that he along with the other passengers had joined the car at the Linden/Soesdyke Highway junction and were on their way home.
