Noise pollution from rice cereal factory

Dear Editor,

I have a serious matter that is affecting myself and family that is causing us to be uncomfortable in our own homes.

A fence separates the Rice Cereal factory at Anna Regina from my house and it is making a lot of noise beyond the limits and giving out smoke also.  My house was already being built before that factory started to be constructed.

Mr. Suresh Narine walked around and told everyone that there would be  “No Noise, No Dust” but when I called him to make a complaint about the noise he told me in a harsh tone of voice  “I just sit in a meeting, I will call you back” but he never called back.

Every time the Environmental Protection Agency officers visit Essequibo the workers don’t work the generator. I don’t know why but I suspect that they are getting some sort of tip off.

Myself and husband are suffering from high blood pressure and many times we have to take over the dosage of tables to monitor our pressure and headache due to the hard noise. We can’t get rest.

Our small grandchildren are also crying out for headaches. However, when I made complaints one of the workers told me that when the generator starts to work they have a resting room and that I must go over to their resting room to catch rest, and also when I have cleaning I must inform them they would send someone to clean my house.

It is not easy to have noise in your ears from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Yours faithfully,

Hardai Ganesh
