Oilfield services company among firms seeking EPA approval

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) yesterday published the names of 11 companies that have submitted applications for environmental authorisation, which include firms seeking to establish wharf and bond services and oil field completions sale and services.

The advertisement said that in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Environmental Protection Act, the applications for the projects were screened by the agency to assess the potential environmental impacts and it was determined that they will not significantly affect the environment. However, EPA Head Dr Vincent Adams told Stabroek News that other checks are still being made.

The names of the companies on the notice are Darryl Eisler, Completions and Wellbore Intervention – Baker Hughes (Trinidad) Limited – Guyana Branch of Lot 51 Eccles Industrial Estate, for oil field completions sale and services; Air Services Limited for the construction and operation of a wharf and bond, which will be located at Block V, Soesdyke; and CDS Biodegradable Products Inc for the manufacturing of biodegradable eating utensils at Lot 1 Coverden, East Bank Demerara.

A 3D seismic survey on the Corentyne Petroleum Prospecting Licence for CGX Resources Inc was also listed along with the operation of a gold dealing facility which will burn gold at Lot 25 Wallers Delight, West Coast Demerara for Adolphus Mining Inc.

Further, Black Jaguar Investment Group wants to establish and operate a stone quarry at Big Bara-bara River, Mazaruni and Collin Andrews wants to construct and operate a sawmill at Tumatumari-Konawaruk Junction, on the left Bank of the Essequibo River.

Also seeking authorisation are Rajendra Ruben to construct a sawmill on a portion of Tract EVL, Bamia, Soesdyke/Linden Highway; Ramdeo Persaud for the construction of a lumberyard without processing at 147 Kurukururu, Linden Highway; Jamsher Khan to construct a sawmill at 44 Waikabra, Soesdyke; and Gail and Mark Doman to construct a lumberyard without processing at 147 Kurukururu, Soesdyke.

The ad said that if anyone feels they may be affected by any of the projects, they should lodge an appeal within 30 days of the publication of the notice.
