Biker dies after colliding with pedestrian on Seafield road

A young motorcyclist is now dead after he collided with a pedestrian along the Seafield Village Public Road on the West Coast of Berbice.

Latchman Hansraj, also known as ‘Kevin,’ 24, of Lot 116 Block ‘D’ Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital, where he was transported after the accident.

Hansraj was reportedly proceeding east along the public road on motorcycle CJ 5154, allegedly at a fast rate, when he collided with a pedestrian, Franyelis Rondon, 19, of Lot 78 Plantation Washington, West Coast Berbice, around 10. 50 pm on Sunday.

Hansraj, a graphic designer, then fell onto the road and slid into parked car, PVV 5754, owned by Garson Baker, a Police Constable stationed at Golden Grove Police Station and of Lot 104 Rosignol Village, West Coast Berbice.

Stabroek News was told that Hansraj was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, while Rondon, who was picked up in a conscious state, was treated and sent away on Sunday night.
