Timehri Panthers `A’ and `B’ teams victorious

Timehri Panthers ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams secured lopsided wins when the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) leg of the NAMILCO U17 championships continued yesterday at the Timehri Red Ground.

Timehri Panthers ‘B’ clipped Soesdyke 10-1. The contest was effectively over at the end of the first period, as Timehri Panthers ‘B’ raced to a commanding 5-1 lead.

The second half mirrored the first period, as a further five goals were plundered by the home side’s strike force.

Orin Solomon tallied a helmet trick in the second, seventh, 44th and 50th. The next scorer with a hat-trick was Joel Williams with conversions in the 30th, 57th and 68th minute.

Similarly, Alvin Handal added a double compliments of strikes in the 39th and 42nd minute. Adding a goals in the 59th minute was George Young. For the loser, Jevay George netted in the 17th minute.

In the earlier match, Timehri Panthers ‘A’ mauled Samatta Point/Kaneville 4-0. Following an own goal in the 24th minute, Shannon Samnauth, Tyrone Burnett and Neron Barrow added to the score in the 35th, 61st and 70th minute respectively.

Also, Friendship defeated Herstelling via walkover. Meanwhile on Friday at the National Track and Field Center, Leonora, Wales defeated Den Amstel via walkover in the West Demerara leg.

Den Amstel suffered the defeat after turning up to the venue with only four players. The West Demerara section will resume today with a tripleheader.
