The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA), in its bid to extend its reach and to introduce a wider cross-section of youths to the sport, recently made a donation to the Mackenzie High School, Linden.

The GBA donated rackets, nets and shuttlecocks to Mr. Shavin Greene, Physical Education Teacher (MHS) of the institution as part of its outreach programme aimed at getting badminton restarted in Linden.

Greene, who did a two-day training session last month with the association, was exposed to the necessary rules and regulations of the sport which should serve him and the students well at MHS.

The GBA says that it  will visit the school from time-to-time to follow up on the progress and give advice where necessary. Meanwhile, the GBA will be hosting a tournament in the second weekend of October where schools would be competing in the Under-11, 13, 15 and 17 categories.
