A city magistrate yesterday granted bail to a fruit vendor who was charged with touching the thigh and private parts of a child.
Devon Mohammed, 35, stood before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who read the charge to him during an in-camera hearing.
The charge alleges that between August 1st, 2019 and August 31st, 2019, at Werk-en-Rust, Mohammed engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 by rubbing one of her thighs and her private parts.
He was granted his release on $100,000 bail.
The matter was later transferred to the courtroom of Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus before whom Mohammed is expected to appear on October 14th.
