Bandit slashes Chinese businesswoman’s neck in America St robbery

A 25-year-old Chinese national is now hospitalised after receiving injuries during a robbery at her America Street business place yesterday afternoon.

The woman, identified as Lie Yan, who conducts a business along America Street, was attacked around 5.45 pm.

This newspaper learned that five men entered her store, where Yang was with one employee. The men confronted Yang who was at the time at the cashier section. They then pointed a knife at her and demanded cash.

One of the men, armed with a knife, cut Yang along her neck and took a box which contained an undisclosed sum of cash. Reports indicated that they then made their escape and ran along Longden Street.

Yang was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she is currently being treated.
