In an effort to promote the development of sports in Guyana, Robb Street-based sporting giants, West Indian Sports Complex, has donated a large quantity of boxing gear to the Winston Pompey Warriors boxing gym.

At a casual visit by Javed Khan, Chief Executive Officer of the sport goods and accessories store over the weekend. The businessman found it necessary to equip the up and coming talents of the gym with gloves and gear to the Sophia based gym.

According to Khan, the company has been in existence for over three decades and has seen the growth of the sport over the years.

Khan noted that there has been a number of issues plaguing the development of young talents, one of which was adequate gear to train and he there and then decided the company needs to fulfill their corporate responsibility.

“The aim of our venture is to continue to promote the talents of our young athletes and in boxing particularly, we see that the youngsters often find it hard to get proper gears to train and even with talent, the lack of resources keep them out of competition and it is here we come in to fill that void and aid in the next Olympic champion,” he said.
