A man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
Jessie Boyal, 39, was brought before Magistrate Faith McGusty, who read the charge to him in Georgetown.
It is alleged that Boyal, between January 1st, 2017 and December 31st, 2017, in the county of Essequibo, engaged in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.
The accused was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
Boyal was later remanded to prison and is set to make his next court appearance before the Chief Magistrate on October 7th.
