A youth now awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to hacking his 70-year-old stepfather to death at Crane, West Coast Demerara in 2016.

Rovindra Singh, 19, admitted that on July 21st, 2016, he killed Eustace Williams, called ‘Patrick.’ Though the teen was charged for murder in 2016, he pleaded guilty to the lesser count of man-slaughter yesterday when he appeared before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the High Court in Georgetown.

Singh, who was 16-years-old at the time of the killing, is due to make his next appearance in court on October 29th for the presentation of a probation report and sentencing.

The pensioner sustained over a dozen chop wounds. His body was discovered in a pool of blood in the lower flat of his two-story house.

At the time, neighbours were unaware that the chopping was taking place because of the noise from a truck that was parked in front of a building under construction opposite Williams’ home. Construction workers then became suspicious after they saw the teen, who was covered in blood, trying to scale a concrete fence to escape.
