West Indian Sports Complex assists Titans ahead of camp

Elite local table tennis club, Titans is the latest entity to be assisted by local sporting accessory giants, West Indian Sports Complex.

The Robb Street-based company on Tuesday visited the club at their Red Cross building, Barrack Street Kingston location while they were practicing and donated two tables, nets and rackets to the club which has been in existence for nearly a decade.

Founder of the Club, Dwain Dick thanked the sponsor for their effort and related that this donation comes at a time when the club is about to embark on a major camp and will provide a great ease for the club. Dick who pointed out that his club usually find all their gear from this company stated, “It is a big boost since the camp will be utilizing eight tables, so we no longer have to pay a fee to use the [Guyana Table Tennis] Association’s tables.”

The founder went on to noted, “we are trying to be where we have the capacity to keep camps that can hold 50 players in the near future and this has brought us closer to that reality and I hope others can see this and come on board.

The international high performance training camp is expected to serve off next month at the club’s training facility and attracting a USD200 fee for the first 12 persons at each level i.e., beginners, intermediate, advanced and recreational.

Meanwhile, proprietor of West Indies Sports Complex, Javed Khan explained that he has taken notice of the club’s success and the contributions they have made to putting Guyana on the map regionally and internationally with their players, particularly Jonathan Van Lange, Thuraia Thomas and Jasmine Billingy.

“Table tennis is one of my favourite sports in the world and I pay keen attention to it, that being said I have always been pleased with the efforts of this club to bring Guyana on the map in the Table Tennis world, I am pleased to be associated with this club and am happy to assist in the continued development of the future champions in the sport,” Khan said.
