(Trinidad Express) Danah Alleyne witnessed the autopsy of her companion Keone Paryag who was killed from a gunshot wound to the leg in a stand-off with police on Friday.

Alleyne fainted when shown the body for identification purposes at the Forensic Sciences Centre, St James on Monday.

She wept throughout the process and was comforted by Paryag’s father who also witnessed the autopsy.

Paryag, 34, was shot around 6 p.m. by police Friday outside a house at Biljah Road, Chaguanas after gunshots were heard inside the premises.

Alleyne, the younger sister of Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne was inside the house when the ordeal began.

Ian Alleyne had told Express that he had known Paryag for several years and not once had he exhibited any violent tendencies.

At the fatal shooting, at least six people were holding guns including Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne, his brother in law and the senior officer at the scene Senior Superintendent of Police Wayne Mystar and three police officers, and the man who was killed, Paryag.

And it appears all were licensed firearm holders.

Police Commissioner Garry Griffith has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and wants to know from his officers why Ian Alleyne, with his handgun, was allowed to be present with police officers during the active and hostile situation that evening.

And the Police Complaints Authority has launched a separate probe, sending out its civilian investigators to find witnesses and gather evidence to determine if any officer should be prosecuted, disciplined, or absolved.

On his television show on Monday evening, Ian Alleyne said the incident, which ended in Paryag’s killing, could have been avoided.

“All of this could have been avoided. But when you open your door with a firearm, nothing could have been avoided again. It all goes back to inside of the apartment, inside of the apartment, what was going on. Why he didn’t put a stop to it? Why he didn’t call somebody? Why he didn’t seek help? Why all the rum in the apartment? Why he didn’t pelt it away? Why everybody vex with me today?

I don’t care about nobody you know”, the talk show host said.

Ian Alleyne had told Express that Paryag fell into a state of depression after a failed business deal in which he lost thousands of dollars earlier this year, and may have triggered his actions on Friday evening.
