Elderly Pomeroon River woman missing for two weeks

A Grant New Port, Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) woman is seeking the public’s assistance in locating her 73-year-old mother who has been missing for two weeks now.

Marie Thomas told Stabroek News on Saturday that her mother Philommena Alfred has been missing since November 4th. She explained that Alfred was last seen accompanying her husband to a bank in Anna Regina where he was going for his pension. Alfred has not been seen since despite numerous searches.

A missing person’s report was filed at the Anna Regina police station.

Thomas related to this newspaper that her father said that he left Alfred waiting on him outside the bank. Upon his return, he could not locate her.

“The bank was crowded. He tek whole day. Them reach deh around 10 o’ clock time and them done til 4 o’clock. He come out and he search for her. He look fah she but he couldn’t find her,” Thomas related.

“When he done search, then he call we at home and seh if ayo mother reach home. Me seh mommy nah reach home. He seh mommy walk away from the bank and he don’t know where she gone,” Thomas added.

She said they immediately launched a search and contacted relatives and friends to enquire whether Alfred had gone by them.

But no one had seen her. “We search all ova but we ain’t see she. Up to yesterday (Friday) we search but still nothing,” she said.

Thomas said that she believes her mother is still alive and might have suffered memory loss therefore making it difficult for her to reunite with her family.

“We seh sometimes somebody rescue she and got she. Like she gone out she mind, like she forget,” Thomas said.
