A 31-year-old motorcyclist is now dead while another was injured following a head-on collision at Rupunau churchyard, South Central Rupununi, Region 9 on Saturday afternoon.
Dead is Ben Aguilar, a resident of Rupunau village, South Central Rupununi.
The injured man has been identified as 25-year-old Baldwin Wilson. He is currently admitted at the Lethem Regional Hospital.
The incident took place around 2.30pm.
Reports are that the men were both riding motorcycles, allegedly at a fast rate of speed in the Rupunau Church yard compound when they collided head-on.
As a result, they both sustained injuries and fell to the ground.
While Wilson was rushed to the hospital, Aguilar was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene by relatives who took his body home for burial.
Upon learning of the incident, the police journeyed to the scene where they heard that Aguilar had already been buried. As a result, his body had to be exhumed and was transported to the Lethem Regional hospital for a post-mortem and further investigation.
