Labourer still hospitalised after fall at Pegasus work site

Weeks after falling from a building at the Pegasus Hotel expansion project work site, labourer Devon Williams, 31, remains hospitalised.

A family member of Williams on Monday told Stabroek News that he is recuperating but remains a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he has been showing signs of improvement.

The woman noted too that Williams is still receiving support from his employers, China Harbour and Engineering Company (CHEC) and the management of the Pegasus Hotel.

Williams, 31, fell from the seventh floor of the building under construction while he was transporting concrete blocks on Sunday, November 1st.

After the fall, Williams had been paralysed. He reportedly broke his spine in three places.

He had undergone surgeries to repair the damage suffered.

Medical expenses that the family have to date incurred are being covered by the companies.

On the day of the fall, it was Williams’ first day on the job. He was hired as a labourer. He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the GPH.
