A police officer attached to the Fort Wellington Police Station was pronounced dead at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital during the wee hours of yesterday morning after a suspected seizure.

Dead is Sergeant 20071 Trevor Jeffers, 38, of Lot 23 Farm Mahaicony Railway Line, East Coast Demerara.

According to his brother, Gregory, the lawman suffered a suspected seizure and was rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital just after midnight after he was discovered unconscious in his bathroom.

Sunday Stabroek was told that on Friday Jeffers began acting strange after which he was taken to his home, since it is known he suffered from seizures.

His brother yesterday said Trevor has been suffering from seizures for a few years.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out early next week so as to determine the cause of Trevor Jeffers’ death.

He shared a child with his ex-wife and was expecting his second child with his new partner, whom he was living with. He was described as an extremely jovial and helpful person who was highly skilled in the field of information technology.
