Pouderoyen, Plaisance and Hurry ATE secured wins, when the Brian Tiwarie Birthday Anniversary 9-A-Side Inter-Ward football Tournament commenced on Saturday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.
Pouderoyen brushed aside newcomer GT Kanaimas 3-0 in the feature contest. On the other hand, Plaisance and Hurry ATE clinched penalty shoot-out wins. Plaisance defeated Bagotville 2-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 2-1.
Similarly, Hurry ATE bested Sophia 3-2 on penalty kicks following a 2-2 score at the end of regulation time. Winner of the event will collect $200,000 while the second, third and fourth place sides will pocket $100,000, $60,000 and $40,000 respectively. The grand finale will be staged on December 1st at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Uitvlugt, Wales and Den Amstel secured wins in the annual Hamilton Green Birthday Anniversary Inter-Ward football at the same venue.
Uitvlugt crushed De Kinderen 5-1 in the main attraction, while Wales defeated Sarah Lodge 2-1 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 2-2. Also, Den Amstel defeated Agricola via walkover, after the latter failed to take the playing area.
Winner of the event will collect $200,000, with the second, third and fourth place finishers copping $100,000, $60,000 and $40,000 respectively.
