Duncan St resident gets bail on drug trafficking charges

Kevin Abrams, who is accused of having quantities of cannabis and cocaine in his possession for trafficking, was yesterday granted his release on a total of $60,000 bail after denying the charges.

Abrams, of 130 Duncan Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, was charged before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown with two offences. It is alleged that on November 15th at the St Ignatius Village benab, he had 46.1 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking in his possession. It was also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he had 34 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in his possession.

Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that ranks from the Lethem Police Station were on duty when they made contact with Abrams, who was searched. They found the suspected narcotics in small packets. He was immediately arrested and the drugs were weighed in his presence.

The prosecutor did not object to Abrams being released on bail with the condition that if granted bail, he reports to the Lethem Police Station every Friday at 8 am. The magistrate released him on bail with the condition suggested by the prosecutor attached. She then transferred the matter to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for hearing on December 30th.
