Guyana yesterday slid out of the regional Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup when it lost by eight runs to the United States by the Duckworth Lewis method.

Guyana needed to win to get into the semifinals ahead of the Emerging Players team.

Played in Tarouba, Trinidad, the United States batted first and Monank Patel scored 85 and Ian Holland 59.  For Guyana Ramaal Lewis took 3 for 24.

When Guyana batted, the in form Chris Barnwell hit 54 and was supported by Jonathan Foo with 41, Anthony Bramble with 38 and Raymon Reifer with 33. However they were unable to keep track with the run rate and  fell to a defeat against the unfancied US.

Guyana had had an excellent chance of getting to the semi finals after the Emerging Players were thrashed yesterday in Port of Spain by the semi-final-bound Trinidad.

The Emerging Players were shot out for 78 and Trinidad polished off the target without losing a wicket.
